Thanksgiving Fun and Funnies!

This unit on life long ago is one of my absolute favorites! We have been having so much fun in all subjects around this theme! Here are a few of our many Thanksgiving activities!

The class has been reading many nonfiction books about pilgrims and the first Thanksgiving. We are learning about nonfiction text features like headings, captions, the glossary and table of contents.

We are listening to Miss Emily read the story Little House in the Big Woods.

We have also read many Thanksgiving poems as we worked to improve our reading fluency! These are our poetry binders.

The children made these colorful turkeys to decorate the room!

The class watched several educational videos about life long ago and the pilgrim people.

We completed numerous writing assignments and graphic organizers like how to hide Tom Turkey after we read the fable. We wrote nonfiction pieces about the first Thanksgiving. We wrote about our Thanksgiving celebrations, what we are thankful for and more. Next week we will write to tell how to make corn soup.

This was the cutest! The children wrote some sillies in their mini book, I feel Like a Turkey When...each had their photo taken with a turkey hat on. They wrote some hilarious oopsies in their books. One of my favorites was I feel like a turkey when I call my teacher Mom! :)

These will be up for conferences so you'll have to take a minute to read them!
