First Weeks Fun!

We sure have been having lots of fun while learning these first weeks! Here are a few pictures!

This is our morning attendance check-in on the SMARTboard. It's going to be a sweet year!

This is our interactive calendar math. We review many skills during calendar time.

The children made this craft for our bulletin board display. They wrote a recipe for a successful year!

Every child painted his or her clothespin for our behavior clip chart and decorated it with stickers to make the clip special!

We write in our communication journals on Fridays. The students enjoyed reading what their parents wrote back!

Math lessons include many investigation activities using counters of all kinds. This one was called mystery bags!

 Making ten with unifix cubes.

These are place value sorting maps and base ten blocks.

This is a card game to practice addition!

On Fridays the children practice estimating at our Estimation Station!

Here Ms. Zelenak models a writing lesson. We devote nearly an hour each morning to our writer's workshop.

We work on a story from our anthology readers each week. This photo is from the day the students received their book and browsed through the stories during snack break.

We have daily story time that includes reading lessons on many skills. The children enjoyed all of the back to school stories during the first few weeks!

On Constitution Day, the children listened to patriotic songs and decorated a headband.

One of the activities in Being a Writer was to do a quick sketch of something in the classroom or out on the playground to generate ideas for writing.

Students share their writing pieces with a partner.

M&M math was lots of yummy fun!

Back on the second day, each child had their picture taken in this frame! Check in with us often and watch us learn and grow!

Thanks for stopping by!
