100's Day and Valentine's Day

This was quite a week with two special days full of exciting activities. Here is a peek at our week!

 Our fun-filled 100th Day packets!
Miss Emily models the 100th Day snack mixture. Behind her are the Black History Month hearts that we painted with sponges.

The students made great purchases from our "store" with the 100 dollars they had to spend. We worked in an economics lesson on supply and demand and scarcity!

All second graders participated in the second grade scramble. They visited all four classrooms and did an activity in each room. In my room, we painted 100 dip dots with Q-Tips. We learned that 10x10=100!

In Mrs. Gold's room, the students had fun with a dice roll and tally activity.
Mrs. Matway ran a coin toss activity. The children had to tally and graph the data they collected.
Mrs. Kern gave the students the 100 second challenge. Here are some students trying to hold their breath that long!

We worked on panda bear mailboxes for our Valentines.

These cute owls are hanging from our ceiling!

There was such excitement while passing out the Valentines!

Mr. Rose and Ms. Batko delivered these big heart-shaped cookies. They were delicious!

Here's Ms. Palma passing out the valentines and cookies she brought for the class!

The children rotated through some candy heart activities set up in the pod.

We graphed our candy hearts and worked on some candy heart word problems too.

Ms. Emily read Arthurs' Valentine.

Then it was time to open, read and sort through the valentines. The children counted how many fit in each category on their recording sheet.
This was a shake and toss candy heart activity to practice sums to 20. The children counted how many landed on and off the heart mat. I adapted this from our math investigations book for the holiday.

The students practiced their estimation skills to see how many big hearts would fit inside the heart on the mat.

The children dropped a heart on a mat with adjectives on it. They wrote that word on the blank inside their silly story.

Thanks so much for all of the donations that helped to make our special days even better! :)
